     KRISHNA LEELA

KRISHNA LEELA

In the life of Lord Krishna he had to marry eight wives. All were some how related to his brave ventures. Out of the eight events, the marriage with Rukmani and Sathyabama are the notable ones. Sathyabama was the daughter of the King Satrajit. The King was gifted a precious necklace “Samantagamani”, by Lord Sun (Surya). Sathyabama was clever, bold and beautiful. She had a cousin, the youngest brother of the king. Since the jewel garland “Samantaga mani” was an ornament of prestigious gift. Sri Krishna asked the king to give the ornament to his safe custody. But the king refused. One day the king’s brother Prasena, when he went to hunt, he wore the Samantaga mani and went to forest.

Since the brother had not returned to the palace in time, the king thought that some danger would have been happened to him by Sri Krishna, and the jewel “Samantaga Mani” would have been taken by Sri Krishna.

When Sri Krishna heard about this report, he went to forest in search of Prasena, the brother of the king. It was actually an adventure to trace out the kings brother. Sri Krishna felt very much for the behaviour of king who unjustly blamed Sri Krishna as a miscreant. This was of the opinion that the jewel was also robbed by Sri Krishna.

When Sri Krishna was in search of the king’s brother, he happened to meet “Jambawan”, a mighty person with devine strength. He was considered to be the deathless man. He was from the period of “Ramayana” found living upon this earth. He was having the “Samantaga Mani” in his hand. He had a daughter called “Jambavathi”. She was pious and beautiful. Sri Krishna, in order to get the jewel had to fight with Jambavan, the mighty person. The war took place for days together. Both Sri Krishna and Jambavan were attacking each other tirelessly.

At the nighttime, the daughter Jambavathi, nursed her father and spoke about the father’s braveness. Jambavan remembered his strength and told that no one could beat him except by the “Sri Rama”, for whom only the Vedhas have conferred the title “as the mightiest among the mightiest”. It was on the 28th day, Jambavan felt his body terribly weakened by the hammering of Sri Krishna’s fists. Finally, Jambavan recognized that, Sri Krishna as, none other than ‘Sri Rama’. Sri Mahavishnu in his Dasa Avathars (Ten incarnations) the term as Sri Krishna, acted upon him to meet the surrender. Jambavan was pleased bow to his head before Sri Krishna. Jambavan told that the brother of Satrajit, was killed by a lion and then the Samanthaka mani was taken by the lion itself. After killing the lion, Jambavan was able the posses the jewel “Samanthaka mani”. Jambavan gave the jewel to Sri Krishna and and gave his daughter Jambavathi in a marriage to Sri Krishna. The arrival of Sri Krishna with Jambavathi spread all over the Dwaraka.

When Sri Krishna along with Sri Balarama entered the city Dwaraka, the city was plunged fully with the citizens, who celebrated the marriage of Sri Krishna and the Jambavathi. Rukmani the elder wife too, happened to know about the victory by defeating ‘Jambawan’ at the forest. Asper the customs and regularities of Royal families, Sri Krishna’s marriage with Jambavathi was recognized by Sri Vasudeva, Sri BalaRama, and Devi yashodha. For the brave men and brave kings when they invade the other kingdoms, there prevailed an atmosphere of relationship which turned down the enimity and smoothened the relations by arranging the marriage to the princess with the winner of the wars. In such a manner, Sri Krishna had to marry several girls, when ever he came victorious.

The massage of bringing the ‘Samanthaka mani’ to Satrajit was sent by the messenger. After few days Sri Krishna visited to the place of Satrajit and informed about the demise of his brother and handed over the Jewel to king Satrajit. The king in turn depended for his false accusation and gave his daughter Satyabama in a marriage to Sri Krishna. He gave the Jewel Samanthaka Mani also. But Sri Krishna did not take the Jewel. He accepted princess Satyabama as his wife. The marriage celebrations were on swing in both the palaces. Dwaraka and in the palace of Satrajit. Sri Krishna and Sathyabama’s marriage was celebrated in a grand manner.

Life at Dwaraka:

All the yadhavas, cowheards, Gobikas, were doing mainly agriculture and diaries. After the marriage of Sathyabama, the palace was with seven queens. Devakima, the mother of Sri Krishna, Yosodha the mother of Balarama and for Krishna, the two wives of Balarama and Sri Krishna’s wives namely Rukmini, Jambavathi and Sathyabama. Proper rains were encouraging the fertility and prosperity.

Sri Krishna and Sri Balarama took the care of the welfare of people. The proud queen Sathyabama was with her fun and gay with all the members of family. She was with enchanting personality shared the happiest times with Sri Krishna. While the time was nice and moving in a fine way, the storm in the route of peaceful atmosphare entered. The Naraka Asura, the Demon king of Pragjyothisyapur, over powered with the Boons of Brahma Deva, started his atrocities even to the extent of disturbing Indra Loka. Indra was the Divine and god for Indra Loka where Narakaasura entered and captured 16000 women and brought them down to Pragjothisyapur.

Narakaasura attacked the territory of Aditi a woman goddess and possessed her valuables and belongings. Aditi was the close relative to Sathyabama. She sought the help of Sri Krishna and Sathyabama. The territory of Narakaasura was in the Northeastern direction from Dwaraka. Sri Krishna and his regiments were ready to leave Dwaraka. Since Sathyabama was well trained by her father in the matters of wars and magical attack of enemies, she requested Sri Krishna to join along with him in the chariot. Days passed the spot and ground for yuddha (War ground) was reached. Narakaasura fought with Sri Krishna and his regiments. In one of the occasion Asura employed the poisonous air and tried to kill the regiment with soldiers. Sri Krishna immediately encountered the spreading poison by his weapon of wind and redirected the air towards sky. And in another occasion he focused the Brahmasthira and attacked Sri Krishna. This was highly powerful and affected much over Sri Krishna who lay on the chariot and loosing the consciousness. Sathyabama took the charge and re attacked the Asura. Through her weapon of multiple arrows, she killed Narakaasura. At that time Naraka Asura cried loudly “Oh Mother” “Oh Mother”. When Sathyabama heard his cry, she felt some thing deep sorrow and it was followed of weeping. Sathyabama could not able to stop weeping. Sri Krishna recovered from his state of unconciousness. The epics say that Sathyabama is no one else than “BooDevi” (Mother Earth) and she is the real mother of Narakaasura.

When Narakaasura had his boons from Lord Brahma, he insisted that the death could never be possible through any body’s hand except his own mother. In this birth BooDevi, has come and born as daughter to Satragit. The fate has taken its own way to bring Sathyabama as the wife to Sri Krishna. According to our epics Lord Krishna is the Vedha Narayana - Lord MahaVishnu himself. Sri MahaVishnu is the husband of Sri Devi (Devi Lakshmi) and Bhoo Devi (Sri Boome Devi).

To the eyes of Narakaasura,réplique montres he saw his own mother and father. He repented for all his lawlessness and atrocities. He begged for a boon. The people on earth should pay homage to him, celebrate this event as “Diwali” (Deepavali), and begin their life towards prosperity. The same and sacred “CHATURTHI” Day is worshipped by us for the last several thousands years.
